Counselling and Psychological Support
Psychologists work with people who are experiencing emotional distress in response to challenges in their life. Neuropsychologists have a unique understanding of how difficulties in thinking and memory can cause emotional distress, and how these same difficulties can make it harder to cope with stress, anxiety and depression.
We also know that as people get older, emotional distress can cause additional problems with thinking and memory. It is important for people who are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression to seek psychological counselling. This treatment can improve a person’s ability to cope with emotional distress and also maximise thinking and memory functioning.
Supporting a person with thinking and memory difficulties can also be emotionally distressing. It is also important for family and friends of people living with dementia or other neurological disorders to seek psychological counselling if they experience stress, anxiety or depression. This treatment can improve a person’s ability to cope with the challenges they experience.
